About me

Hi everyone! My name is Lauren Cowan and I am the owner and senior beauty technician for NailsByLaurenCowan and BeautyByLaurenCowan

I am a married 31 year old with a 7 year old son. I live on a farm out in the countryside of Ayrshire. My background is working in Health and Social Care and I still often assist with shifts at my local hospital.

After working to promote and build businesses for care companies over the years, I decided it was time to think about what I wanted, to do what interested me and made me happy. After consideration, I decided to train in Gel and Acrylic nail services. I often went a got my own nails done and the whole process fascinated me!

I trained with Glitterbels in Feb 2021 and was qualified in April 2021. By this point, I was still working in care so my business was initially mobile. In May 2021, I became salon based on a Saturday in a small hairdressers.

Finally, I decided it was time to give my business everything I had and I left my office care position in October 2021 and became full time in the salon. I loved every second!

Since training initially, I have went on to train in Builder Gel Application, sculpting, E-File and various design courses. This is so I can keep updated on the newest trends and health and safety surrounding the natural nail - your nail health will always be No. 1 priority with us!

In July 2022, I singed the lease on an office space, that would give my my own room, where I would have more space and be able to offer and more 1-1 experience for clients!

In August 2022, we qualified in offering Lash Extensions.

In September 2022, we received notification that we were a finalist for the UK Hair and Beauty Awards 2023!

In December 2022, we qualified in and added Brow Wax and Tint and Lash Lift and Tint to our services and finally waxing was added in 2023!
